Privacy policy

CutTheCharge is published by Petna Ventures, Inc.. We collect as little information as possible.
What we collect
- No accounts. You don't need to sign up or log in.
- Website hosting. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical information such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the website.
- Visit statistics (Cloudflare). We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without identifying you.
- Visit statistics (Google Analytics). We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site, for example which guides are read and how visitors find us. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as the pages you view, how long you stay, your approximate location, and your device and browser type. We use this information only in aggregate to improve the site; we don't use it to identify you. Google processes it under Google's Privacy Policy.
- If you visit from the European Union/EEA, the United Kingdom, Switzerland or Turkey, we ask first: Google Analytics only loads if you click "Accept" in the cookie banner.
- If you visit from anywhere else (for example the US), Google Analytics loads by default. You can turn it off at any time with Cookie settings (also in the footer of every page).
- To know which applies, your browser asks Cloudflare, our hosting provider, for your country through our own website. This uses information Cloudflare already has to deliver the site; nothing extra is shared with anyone. If your country can't be determined, we ask first, as for the regions above. If you make a choice before the country check finishes, your choice always wins.
- Your choice is stored only in your browser (a setting named
ctc-consent; if your browser blocks that, a small cookie with the same name may record a "Decline"). If you decline after accepting, we remove the Google Analytics cookies from this site. - You can also turn Google Analytics off for this site by opening cutthecharge.com/?notrack once in each browser you use (opening cutthecharge.com/?track removes that switch again; any "Decline" you chose in the cookie banner still applies), block cookies in your browser settings, or use Google's Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Email. If you email us, we receive your email address and message and use them only to reply or to fix a guide.
What we never collect
We never ask for passwords or payment card numbers. The letter tool below asks for details such as the email address and member number on your account, but only to fill in your letter; we never receive or store them.
The free letter tool
Some guides have a tool that writes a cancellation letter for you. What you type into it (such as your name, address, email and member number) stays in your browser. We don't receive it, store it or pass it to anyone, and the tool doesn't send it to Google Analytics. If you choose to email the letter, it opens in your own email app and you send it yourself; if you print it, your browser handles the printing. The tool empties its fields when you reload the page or come back to it, and you can empty them at any time with "Clear details".
Links to other websites
Our guides link to companies' official pages. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
Children
The site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13.
