How to cancel ChatGPT
Cancel on the ChatGPT website
If you pay OpenAI directly.
- Sign in to ChatGPT.
- Open your account menu and select Settings.
- Select Billing.
- Under Cancel plan, select Cancel.
Cancel through Apple (iPhone or iPad)
If you subscribed in the ChatGPT iOS app.
- Open Settings and tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap ChatGPT, then Cancel Subscription.
Cancel through Google Play (Android)
- Open subscriptions in Google Play.
- Select ChatGPT.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the instructions.

Common problems
I deleted the app but I'm still being charged
Uninstalling the app doesn't cancel. Cancel in ChatGPT's Billing settings, or with Apple or Google Play if they bill you.
I deleted my account but Apple still charges me
Deleting your ChatGPT account doesn't cancel an App Store subscription. Cancel it in your Apple subscriptions.
Refunds and your final bill
- OpenAI says canceling stops future renewals but does not automatically refund previous charges. Its help center has a separate article on requesting a refund.
Make sure it worked
- Keep the confirmation email, a screenshot of the confirmation screen, or any reference number.
- Check your next card or bank statement to confirm the charge has stopped.
