How to Cancel Dropbox

Quick answer

On dropbox.com, click your avatar at the bottom left, then Manage account, and Cancel plan at the bottom of the page. Your account moves to the free Basic plan at the end of your billing cycle. If you don't see Cancel plan, you may have bought Dropbox on a phone, and then you cancel through the app store.

Before you cancel

  • Your account switches to the free Basic plan at the end of your billing cycle, and you won't be charged again.
  • Basic includes 2 GB of storage. If you're over it, you may not be able to sync, upload, share, move or preview files. If your account remains over the limit, Dropbox may delete files you own to bring it under.

How to cancel Dropbox

Cancel on dropbox.com

  1. Log in to dropbox.com.
  2. Click your avatar in the bottom-left corner.
  3. Click Manage account.
  4. Click Cancel plan at the bottom of the page.
  5. Select a reason for canceling.
  6. Click Continue canceling or Confirm change, and follow the prompts.

Cancel through Apple (iPhone or iPad)

  1. Open the Settings app and tap your name.
  2. Tap Subscriptions.
  3. Tap Dropbox.
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription.

Cancel through Google Play (Android)

  1. Open the Dropbox app and tap the Account tab at the bottom right.
  2. Tap Manage your subscription, then How to cancel.
  3. Tap Cancel plan at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Tap Cancel subscription.

Dropbox says tapping Cancel plan takes you to Google Play to finish.

Common problems

I don't see Cancel plan on dropbox.com

You may have bought Dropbox on your phone. Cancel through the app store on that device, using the Apple or Google Play steps.

Make sure it worked

  • Keep the confirmation email, a screenshot of the confirmation screen, or any reference number.
  • Check your next card or bank statement to confirm the charge has stopped.

Frequently asked questions

Will I lose my files if I cancel Dropbox?

Your account moves to Basic with 2 GB. If you're over that, some features stop working, and if your account remains over the limit, Dropbox may delete files you own. Move files first if you need them.
