How to Cancel Duolingo

Quick answer
Cancel the way you subscribed. In the Duolingo app, tap the Super icon, then Settings, Manage subscription and Cancel subscription, and confirm in the App Store or Google Play. On the web, go to your profile picture, Settings, Super Duolingo and Cancel subscription. If you subscribed in your phone's settings, cancel through Apple (iPhone) or send Duolingo a support request (Android). Deleting the app or your account does not cancel.

How to cancel Duolingo
Cancel in the Duolingo app (iPhone or Android)
If you subscribed in the Duolingo app.
- Open the Duolingo app.
- Tap the Super icon at the top of the home screen.
- Tap Settings (the gear icon).
- Tap Manage subscription.
- Select Cancel subscription and continue.
- Confirm the cancellation through the App Store, Google Play or Alipay.
Cancel through Apple (iPhone or iPad settings)
If you subscribed in your iPhone or iPad settings, Duolingo points you to Apple's instructions.
- Open Settings and tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap Duolingo, then Cancel Subscription. You may need to scroll down.
If there's no Cancel button, or you see an expiration message in red, the subscription is already canceled.
Cancel on the Duolingo website
If you subscribed in a web browser.
- Sign in to your Duolingo account in a web browser.
- Click your profile picture at the top of the home screen and choose Settings.
- Select Super Duolingo.
- Select Cancel subscription and confirm.

- Submit a support request to Duolingo, as its help center instructs for this case.
Common problems
I deleted Duolingo but I'm still being charged
Deleting the app or your account doesn't cancel. Cancel the same way you subscribed, using the steps above.
Something went wrong with my subscription
Duolingo says to submit a bug report (through its support request page) and choose "Purchase Issue". It notes it can't access the iOS App Store or resolve issues with it.
Refunds and your final bill
- Duolingo says canceling doesn't retroactively refund payments, and past fees can't be prorated by cancellation date. It has a separate help article, "How do I request a refund?".
Make sure it worked
- Keep the confirmation email, a screenshot of the confirmation screen, or any reference number.
- Check your next card or bank statement to confirm the charge has stopped.
