How to Cancel Netflix

Quick answer

Sign in and go to Netflix's Manage your membership page, select Cancel, then Finish Cancellation. You keep watching until the end of your current billing period. If you don't see a Cancel option, another company (a payment partner) bills you, and your Netflix Account page shows how to cancel with them.

Before you cancel

  • You can keep watching until the end of the period you've already paid for.
  • If your account is on hold, it closes immediately when you cancel.
  • Netflix keeps your viewing activity, recommendations, ratings, account details, gameplay history and game saves for 24 months after your account closes. If you restart within that time, they're still there.
  • Signing out or deleting the Netflix app does not cancel your membership.

How to cancel Netflix

Cancel on the Netflix website

  1. Go to Netflix's Manage your membership page and sign in if asked.
  2. Select Cancel.
  3. Under Cancel, select Finish Cancellation.

Cancel through Apple (iPhone or iPad)

Only if Apple bills you. Netflix billing through Apple is no longer available for most new or rejoining members.

  1. Open Settings and tap your name.
  2. Tap Subscriptions.
  3. Tap Netflix.
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription. You may need to scroll down.

Apple may renew the subscription unless you cancel more than 24 hours before your renewal date. If there's no Cancel button, or you see an expiration message in red, it's already canceled. On a Mac, open the App Store, click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, click your name again, then click Subscriptions.

Billed by someone else?

Important

If you pay for Netflix through another company (Netflix calls it a payment partner), you may have to cancel with that company instead of with Netflix.

  • Check the Membership section of your Netflix Account page: if a partner bills you, the instructions for canceling appear there.
  • If you don't see a cancellation option in your Netflix account, contact the company that bills you.

Common problems

I can't see a Cancel option

A payment partner probably bills you. Look at the Membership section of your Netflix Account page for instructions, and cancel with that partner.

I deleted the app but I'm still being charged

Deleting the app or signing out doesn't cancel Netflix. Cancel on the Manage your membership page, or with the partner that bills you.

I canceled but was charged again

Check your Netflix Payment History, which shows when your account will close. Make sure you canceled the account that is actually being charged, and that a partner isn't billing you separately. If the charge still looks wrong, contact Netflix through its help center.

Refunds and your final bill

  • Netflix's terms say payments are nonrefundable and there are no refunds or credits for partly used periods.
  • After you cancel, you keep access until the end of your current billing period and aren't charged again unless you restart.

Make sure it worked

  • Look for Netflix's cancellation confirmation email.
  • Your Payment History shows when your account will close.
  • Keep the confirmation email, a screenshot of the confirmation screen, or any reference number.
  • Check your next card or bank statement to confirm the charge has stopped.
